Leeds Area Riding for the Disabled

About us

Who We Are

Leeds Area Riding for the Disabled Association is a registered charity (No. 1074221) dedicated to providing riding opportunities for disabled people in the Leeds area.

Our aim is simple: to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life through horse riding and equine activities.

For many years, our volunteers, riders and horses have worked together to create a welcoming community where everyone can achieve their personal goals, make friends and enjoy the benefits of riding. We proud to be one of the oldest Groups in the country.

Part of National RDA

We are proud to be affiliated with the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), a national charity that has been enriching lives through horses since 1969.

What We Do

  • Weekly riding sessions for disabled children and adults
  • Opportunities to build confidence and independence
  • Physical exercise that can improve balance, coordination and strength
  • Social interaction and enjoyment in a safe environment
  • Activities supported by trained volunteers and experienced horses

Why Riding Helps

Horse riding provides a unique combination of physical activity, mental stimulation and social interaction. Many participants experience improved confidence, greater independence and a sense of achievement while enjoying time with our wonderful horses and ponies.
